Introduction to English Debate---Syllabus
Brief Introduction
In this course, we will introduce the student to English debate and the ancient art of public speaking as it is done in the western tradition. Over the course of one academic year, the student will become familiar with the basic concepts of Western-style rhetoric and parliamentary debate. The student will engage in public speaking concerning issues that have relevance to the student and to the world at large. As the course progresses, the student will be trained in the techniques of debate as guided by parliamentary procedure.
